Repairing Tile Roofs
Sometimes a tile may become loose, or the wind during a storm will tear off a couple of tiles. Your roof may be repairable, especially if you have replacement tiles from when you had it replaced last.
If you have a fairly new tile roof, then it's likely that the tiles are still manufactured. So larger tile roof repairs are still possible. As long as those tiles are still being made, or in some cases a new version that still interlocks with the older version and is in the exact same color, then we can order enough tiles to do a repair.
The problem with tile roof repair comes when the tiles are no longer made or available. It's not just a matter of matching color (though that's much more important to owners than to insurance companies, it seems). The problem arises when there are no matching tiles that interlock or nest in the older tiles. Tile companies often only run a series of tile for only ten years or so.
Often this occurs after a severe hail storm, or once a branch from a tree falls on your roof and an insurance adjuster says that it's a simple repair, and cuts a small check. On the coast or in the southwest, adjusters are a little better about understanding what's involved in fixing a tile roof than they tend to be in the midwest.
